Lovers of both the aviation industry and the royal and ancient game will likely go weak at the knees on a visit to Avro Golf Club, a unique setting in Woodford, Greater Manchester.
The course sits right on the boundaries of the former Woodford Aerodrome, which explains the club’s association with the aviation industry. The nine hole course stretches to 5,749 yards and boasts a par of 69. It is particularly attractive but is also quite tight.
The new Avro Heritage Museum which houses thousands of artefacts collected over the years by the Avro Heritage Trust is simply stunning. It is open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am – 4pm. This fantastic museum reflects Woodford’s proud history of its association with the British aviation industry.
